THE draw for the All-Ireland Round Robin series was made today and Tyrone face a potential sequel clash against Donegal on their first outing in the group stages.
The Red Hands have been pitted in a four-team group alongside whoever reigns supreme in Ulster (either Donegal or Armagh), the Munster Championship beaten finalists (either Clare or Kerry) and Cork.
Their first outing will be an away match against either Donegal or Armagh on the weekend of May 25/26, while they will take on Clare or Kerry on home turf. Their third and final group stage clash will be hosted at a neutral venue when they take on Cork.
Today’s draw opens up the intriguing possibility that they could be set for a repeat meeting against Donegal, who are favourites to come out on top in Sunday week’s Ulster Championship final against Armagh.
Tyrone lost out to Donegal after extra-time in last weekend’s enthralling Ulster Championship semi-final clash, but they still have the opportunity to make their mark on the national stage with the round robin series set to be played off across May and June.
The team that finishes top of the table will advance as of right to the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals while the various second and third-placed teams will face off in the Preliminary quarter-finals.
