New motorcycle trials club established

A NEW motorcycle trials club has been established to facilitate the increasing interest of the sport in the local area.

The Tyrone Motorcycle Trials Club has officially been set-up under the auspices of the Amateur Motorcycle Association (AMA), to cater for the ever-growing number of trials enthusiasts in Omagh and the surrounding districts of Beragh, Fintona and Dromore in particular.

Until the recent formation of the club local riders had no option but to travel to all arts and parts of the country to compete and the club’s first chairman Brendan Gormley said it was important to establish a local base for the continued growth of the sport and the development of local riders.

“Historically motorcycle trials have been popular in counties Antrim, Down, Dublin and Cork and we were always having to travel to compete. But with the growth in the number of trials riders in the Omagh area we decided to form a club,”  said the chairman.
