Errigal Ciaran III 4-10 Tattyreagh 3-16
THE late reintroduction of Tattyreagh corner back Andrew Allen proved decisive at Dunmoyle as the Tatts rescued a second win on the bounce after trailing to a tenacious Errigal Ciaran Thirds on Friday night in ACL Division 3B.
Allen had previously been taken off but within minutes of his return as a makeshift forward he slammed home the winning goal to break the hosts’ hearts.
The sides had been level on four occasions in the second half after Davy Harte inspired the hosts to a spirited comeback after finding themselves eight points down on thirty two minutes.
It was end to end, hugely entertaining, stout defending, sweeping attacks with plenty of incident.
Errigal were reduced to 14 men when Ewan McCabe picked up a straight red card with twenty minutes played and Tatts skipper Eoin McGinn was black carded through the second period.
The visitors dominated the opening quarter going five points up through a double of two point frees from Eoghan McGrath and a well executed point from John McAleer in a powerful period that also produced a series of wides.
Errigal did have plenty of ball and pulled a goal back when Shane Donaghy finished well from a Ben Mc Dermott pass, an earlier Ryan Lynch effort had been well saved by Ciaran Mullin. .
Keelan McDonagh launched a mammoth two pointer after a sweeping move and he turned provider when he linked up with Mc Ginn who teed up Peader Mullan for a goal. McCabe was carded as both sides traded scores with Lynch getting a double, Aidan Martin for St Patricks who also had goal bound efforts well saved by Paddy Faulkner.
A quick 1-1 from McGrath and the goal from the rampaging Niall Murray had the Tatts eight clear two minutes after the restart. Harte, introduced in the first half, though turned things around. He sent Mc Dermott through for a goal and after conceding two points from Mc Donagh and Mullan he rattled in a great goal of his own with Mc Ginn blacked.
Lynch went through on goal and glanced his shot wide certainly making amends when the kick out wasn’t executed and this time he found the net to level things. Within a minute he nudged his side ahead with a good two pointer. Tattyreagh had conceded 2-2 with McGinn off but on his return they were back in front.
Mullan scored 0-2, McGrath and McGinn himself steadied the ship with seven minutes left and the reintroduction of Allen saw him head to the attack.
Lynch tagged on a pointed free and one from play to level the contest as Harte and McDonagh exchanged late points however there was to be one final twist.
In the final act Tattyreagh worked the ball out right and in a jam packed penalty area Allen was on hand to steer home a match winning goal and maximum points again.
