Tyrone 1-12 Donegal 0-5
TYRONE Masters entertained Donegal in Carrickmore on Saturday in a Round Two group stage clash and got back to winning ways after their opening loss to Cavan with a dominant performance against their neighbours.
Conor Gormley opened the scoring with a trademark point on his home ground. Debutant Martin Conway followed up with another point quickly followed by Carmen man Mark Donnelly, who scored 1-4 across the hour, left Tyrone three ahead and firmly setting the tone for the remainder of proceedings.
Conway and Donnelly again converted before Donegal midfielder Benny Boyle registered their first score as they tried to get a grip on Tyrone’s dominance.
A Michael Anderson free finished the scoring for the half leaving Tyrone leading 0-6 to 0-1.
Proinsias O’Kane opened the scoring after the break followed by a rocket to the Donegal net by Mark Donnelly as the Red Hands compounded their advantage.
Donegal struck back with two points but Tyrone resisted with scores from Donnelly, Conway and Johnny O’Neill who made an impressive contribution when introduced.
The scoring was finished with an exquisite point from O’Kane.
It was a solid team performance on Saturday with the defence always on top, the midfield dominant and the attack coming together well with some well-executed scores. Next up Tyrone will take on Derry.
