EACH year, the Rotary Club in Dungannon with the cooperation of Tesco Dungannon hold a Christmas Tree appeal to raise funds for local groups.
In 2020, Sperrinview School was nominated as one of the beneficiaries. The principal of Sperrinview Paula Jordan felt different sized adapted bicycles and helmets would be a great addition to the things they have on offer.
The bikes had to be acquired from a recognised agent who deals with specially adapted equipment and hence the delay in securing the items. The Dungannon club also asked their district to match funds raised and were delighted to secure funds from them.

In total 20 safety helmets and 16 bicycles were bought and the Rotary members visited to see the bicycles going for their test drives.
The school hope to put children through their cycling proficiency tests and equip them with another life skill. Needless to say the bicycles have been a huge success and they got a big thumbs up from the students. A spokesperson for the Rotary Club said, “Thankyou to everyone in our community who supported our tree project year on year. You all helped to make this possible.”
