Rising stars to get their chance in the spotlight at Strabane gig

ANOTHER stellar night is in store from the ‘Strabane Unplugged’ committee as they prepare to host the latest night of their long-running concert series.

The popular concert series has, over the years, showcased large and small Irish acts, bringing them to the local stage.

The latest crop of musicians is set to play later this month at the Alley Theatre, with the committee promising a new bunch of first-time performers.

Strabane Unplugged started off in a bar in the town to showcase original music from local bands and songwriters from the town and across the North-West and further afield.

Now the show has grown and regularly hosts concerts at Strabane’s Alley Theatre.

The lineup for the show on April 30 is currently under wraps, but the organisers have stated that it will not disappoint, and they promise to continue showcasing some of the best acts in Irish music.

So far Strabane Unplugged has seen some of Strabane’s best-loved musicians perform, including Paul Brady, The Brambles, JP ‘Cash Returns’ McCauley, Gav Kelly, Brian Hassan, Pontius Pilots and Gaze is Ghosts.

Strabane musician and member of the organising committee, Josh Clarke, remarked that this latest secret lineup is one of their best yet.

He told the Tyrone Herald, “I can’t say too much about the lineup later this month, but it is a great one; a real mix of local and fantastic talent from across Ireland.

“The committee is working hard to bring a whole host of brand new acts from the northwest.

“Tickets are almost sold out, so if you want to avoid disappointment, get your tickets now.”

Josh added, “I can’t wait to see everybody in on April 30. We always get a number of the same faces who have attended the old Unplugged, but we are open to seeing a few more new ones this time round.”
