THE Castlederg Committee for Cancer Research UK recently held their open meeting, welcoming guest speaker Dr Brendan O’Hare, who delivered an insightful talk titled ‘Cancer in Castlederg’.
During his presentation, Dr O’Hare highlighted the importance of early detection and screening.
He urged women to attend their routine mammograms, which are offered every three years, and encouraged everyone over the age of 60 to make use of the bowel screening programme – a simple test kit sent out by post.
Milton Porter extended thanks to Dr O’Hare on behalf of the committee.
The meeting also reflected on another exceptional year of fundraising.
A staggering £19,035.93 was raised over the past year – a testament to the continued generosity and commitment of the Castlederg community. The committee expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported their efforts.
With the ongoing support of the local area, the committee remains confident in the shared mission: Together, we can beat cancer.
