Strabane woman asking people to donate their unwanted garments

A STRABANE Miss Northern Ireland hopeful, who stormed through her heat to take her place at the gala event in Belfast’s Europa hotel at the end of the month, is using her platform to help the local community with a clothing donation drive this Sunday.

In the past few weeks, Rhiannon Duffy has been asking people to donate their unwanted garments to the drive in the hope that the pre-loved items will get a second phase of their lifespan.

The drive is part of the ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ protect associated with the Miss NI competition, where contestants can pick a cause which allows them the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives through whatever means possible.

Rhiannon’s clothing venture is hoping to raise some significant funds for the Kinship Care project, which helps less-fortunate children or those who have experienced trauma by supplying love, care and vital necessities for when their parents are unable to, for whatever reason.

‘Beauty With A Purpose; Clothing For A Cause’ will take place this Sunday in the Bog Hall in Sion Mills between 11am and 5pm. Admission is £1, which enters everyone into a raffle on the day, and Rhiannon is on the lookout for prizes, urging any local businesses willing to donate to get in touch.

All money from the sale of clothes and admission will go to Kinship Care.
