A JOINT funeral is to be held in St Matthew’s Church in Garvaghey this weekend for the father and son who died at the family home on Tuesday.
James Grimes (85) and his son Emmett (54) died in circumstances which the PSNI have since described as ‘not being suspicious’.
The Requiem Mass for them will take place in their local church on Sunday at 1pm, following a two-day wake.
It is expected that there will be a large congregation for the funeral Mass of the father and son, who were well-respected and popular in the local area.
There has been widespread shock and sadness at their sudden deaths since news of what had happened emerged on Tuesday night.
James was pre-deceased by his wife, Bernadette and is survived by their children Fergal (Sharon), Aaron (Kellie), Orla (Chris) and Ciara (Andy) and grandchildren Caolan, Dearbhla, Owen, Caitlin, Jack, Cassie and James.
Emmett is also survived by his son, Matt, and his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. who was a father of one son, Matt, is also survived by his siblings Fergal (Sharon), Aaron (Kellie), Orla (Chris) and Ciara (Andy).
Following the Requiem Mass, James will be conveyed to the cemetery of St Patrick’s Catherdal in Armagh where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Bernadette, while Emmett will be laid to rest in the graveyard adjoining St Matthew’s Church in Garvaghey.
