ASSURANCES have been sought about the future of the Argos store in Strabane.
Sinn Féin MLA, Maolíosa McHugh has written to the management of Argos seeking assurances in relation to the future of its Strabane operation.
He said, “Following announced major closures and job losses by Argos last week, there is undoubted relief that the Strabane store was not on that list.
“However, there is still concern with staff and customers about the future of the stand-alone stores.
“There is further worry in Strabane given the Lidl relocation to this area, so people are unsure of what the future holds.
“I have written to the management of Argos seeking clarity on the stand alone stores, specifically the Strabane store.
“The Strabane store provides much needed employment in our town and is a fantastic asset to the local business community within the Strabane district. As MLA for this area I would be hopeful that Argos would value the contribution of the staff and customers within this area by ensuring the store will remain for the foreseeable future and I hope that Argos management can provide the reassurance that is required.
