Baby celebrations at most wonderful time of the year

THE parents of a local Boxing Day baby have said they are ‘just so happy’ to have brought their little girl into the world at the most wonderful time of year.

For the majority of us, the festive season is a period more magical than most.

However, when one young couple living in Kilskeery look back at in years to come, Christmas 2023 will stand out like no other.

This year, Yasmin Hewitt, originally from Dromore, and her partner Joshua Gordon, who hails from Enniskillen, spent Christmas Day in South West Acute Hospital.

On Saint Steven’s Day, Yasmin gave birth to their beautiful baby girl, Bonnie, pictured.

We spoke with the besotted couple yesterday to find out they have been getting on since they brought their daughter home.

“She was not due until December 30, so it came as quite a shock when my waters broke,” laughed the 26-year-old mother-of-one.

“This is the first grandchild on either side, so you can imagine all the excitement that she has brought with her.”

Though it is still early days, Yasmin and Joshua have already decided on a name and chosen the godparents.

“We have called her Bonnie because we like the name and you don’t hear it much.

“Her godmother is going to be Joshua’s first cousin, Lisa Rogers, and her godfather is going to be my brother, Morgan.”

We did not keep the doting parents too long, allowing them to get back to what they really wanted to be doing; spending time with their new arrival.

Before they went, Yasmin did say one last thing.

“The both of us are just so happy and it will be really nice for the whole family to have this article to look back at in years to come.”
