Charities receive £10,000 boost from running event

AN annual 5k/10k run across the summer streets of Coalisland has helped to raise more than £10,000 for a trio of local causes.

Organised by Keep ‘er Lit Running’ in association with Newell Stores, Coalisland, the event saw hundreds of people across the local community hit the pavements with enthusiasm and vigour, all in aid of Marie Curie, NI Cystic Fibrosis, and Keep ‘er Lit Juniors.

After the heart rates returned to normal and the trainers and training tops were thrown in the wash, the organisers counted £10,400 in total donations, and this incredible amount was split was split between the three beneficiaries.

A delighted spokesperson of Keep ‘er Lit running club was keen to thank everyone involved.

“We’d like to say a massive thank you, as always, to Newell Stores for their total commitment to making this race bigger and better each year, and for supporting us with whatever we thought would benefit the race experience for everyone,” they said.

“This allowed all of the race fees to go directly to the groups we are supporting.

“We simply could not put on the race day experience without Newell Stores, and we certainly could not donate in the way we do each year without Newell Stores’ unwavering support to our events.

“We’d also like to extended our thanks to Mid Ulster District Council for their continued support in making the whole day a family fun occasion,” they added.

“And finally, thank you to everyone who took part and made the occasion the amazing day that it turned out to be.

“Time after time, people right across Mid-Ulster turn out and take part in one of the biggest road events of the year.

“We are very grateful, and it is your support that generates the charity donations, so- well done to you all.”
