Charity walk in memory of Killyclogher GAA stalwart

PEOPLE from Killyclogher, Starthroy, Knockmoyle, Cullion and Mountfield are holding a walk for Tommy Nugent, a loved and respected member of all these communities, who tragically passed away two years ago.

The ‘Walk in memory of Tommy’ will be held on Sunday, January 2 and will allow Tommy’s friends and family to start the New Year on the right footing; by paying respect to the man who meant so much to them with a walk around the tranquil wilderness of the Gortin Glens.

Those who wish to honour the memory of the Killyclogher GAA stalwart are asked to meet within the grounds of the Glenpark Estate on January 2 at noon.

Once the crowd of willing walkers have assembled and filled their lungs, they will set off on a winding route through the trails of the neighbouring Gortin Glens.

Peter O’Kane, of Killyclogher GAA, said, “Tommy was a proud Castleroddy and Cappagh man who always found time to have a conversation with whomever he met.

“Everyone who met Tommy was left with a lasting memory of him, and this walk will give people the opportunity to share stories of Tommy and keep his memory alive.”

When the walkers return to the Glenpark Estate there will time to enjoy a few refreshments and continue the conversations about Tommy that develop around the route.

The walk will raise money for Air Ambulance; there is a GoFundMe page open on Killclogher GAA Facebook page, or alternatively you can donate on the day.
