In conjunction with Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month, the staff of an Omagh business recently ran a coffee morning that raised around £2,000 for a group which supports people across the North affected by the rare lung disease.
The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF) designated September as Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month. During the month, across the globe, the PFF encouraged people to learn more about the chronic respiratory condition and to help spread information about services available for those who develop it.
And staff from Active Packaging, a business located in Omagh’s industrial estate, took it upon themselves to do their bit.
To help raise money for Northern Trust Pulmonary Fibrosis Support, Active Packaging held a tea and coffee morning. Northern Trust Pulmonary Fibrosis Support are the only active Pulmonary Fibrosis support group on this part of the island, and they offer their services to people from across the whole of the North.
PF is a condition in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult. It’s not clear what causes it, but it usually affects people who are around 70 to 75 years old. Though the disease is relatively rare, there are still many people across Tyrone affected by it.
