Strabane care home residents enjoy art programme

In an innovative display of community spirit and creativity, Lisnafin/Ardnalee/Trust CCDA has orchestrated a series of silk painting art classes in three local care homes.

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery’s Community Fund and the generous contributions of National Lottery players, residents at Greenfield, Melmount Manor, and Woodmount care homes had the opportunity to engage in artistic endeavors, bringing a splash of color and joy into their lives.

The initiative aimed to reach out to individuals facing health challenges or mobility issues, who were unable to attend regular art classes at Lisnafin Community Centre. Over the course of six weeks, under the guidance of artist Leona Devine, residents crafted beautiful silk scarves and sun catchers, each piece a testament to their creativity and determination.

Leona Devine’s professionalism played a pivotal role in ensuring that every participant not only learned new artistic skills but also had a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A spokesperson for the community group stated, “Residents in the three care homes made silk scarves and silk sun catchers. Well done everyone, great work.
