Three charities benefit from Peter and Friends fundraiser

THREE very worthy charities have benefited from an fundraising event organised by a Dungannon family who suffered the loss of their energetic son to a rare brain tumour six years ago.

Back in August, Dungannon Park was the venue for the fundraising walk and run and dog show in memory of Peter Nesbitt and other young people who battle cancer. Their events helped raise £2,400 for CLIC Sargent, Cancer Fund for Children and Friends of the Cancer Centre.

It was organised by Peter and Friends who as the name suggest, are a group of family and friends of Peter Nesbitt.

Fondly remembered as a fun loving, energetic 20-year-old student, he was diagnosed in June 2014 with a rare brain tumour. His family were supported by cancer charities during his illness and wanted to return the support and kindness and so they created the charitable group ‘Peter and Friend’s’.

In May 2015, Peter sadly lost his battle with cancer, however his family and friends have worked hard to keep his memory alive with a whole host of fundraising events organised in the intervening years to help the charities who were there for them.

Friends of the Cancer Centre (Belfast) was home to Peter for over seven months, while the group are also supporting CLIC Sargent and NI Cancer Fund for Children.

Peter’s uncle George said the ongoing fundraising campaign had helped his family remember Peter in the best way possible.
