THE Drummond Centre in Dunamanagh has recently completed some minor upgrade work at their facilities thanks to a funding allocation from the Ørsted Owenreagh Wind Farms’ Community Benefit Fund.
The funding enabled the Drummond Centre to replace the old wooden main entrance doors with energy efficient UPVC doors.
The Drummond Centre Project was formed in 2004 by the local community to support and deliver youth services within the Rural Sperrin DEA. They have 72 youth members registered via the youth club which operates during the months October – March. Additionally, the centre also provides a range of summer scheme activities during the school holidays.
Margaret McLaughlin from the Drummond Centre Project said, “Upgrading the main entrance doors will enhance the overall service the youth club delivers to our members as the money saved on heating will go towards the youth services on offer.
“In order to deliver this, we needed to be able to access funding, something which is not readily available for small rural community groups. We look forward to continuing this relationship with Ørsted, who have consistently demonstrated they want to be part of the local community and contribute in a positive way.”
The Owenreagh Wind Farms’ Community Benefit Fund has been supporting local community initiatives for the last 8 years. Further information on how to apply for Ørsted’s community benefit funds can be found at orsted.ie
