Musical heavyweights, More Power To Your Elbow and The Whistlin’ Donkeys will join a host of other artists taking part in a concert in Galbally Hall on Saturday, February 17 in aid of Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP).
All the money raised by the show will go to charity which provides immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
According to the UN, since the bombing of Gaza began some 300 healthcare workers have been killed.
Pat Casey of More Power To Your Elbow said that they organised the concert after seeing the horrific images from Gaza on television and social media.
Pat, who is an original member of the band said, “Like everyone else we seen the harrowing images on our television screens and over Christmas the band had a discussion if we could do anything to help the people of Gaza. We contacted The Whistlin’ Donkeys and they agreed to help us organise a concert to raise money for the non-political charity MAP.
“There have been so many people hurt and killed in Gaza and so many others injured who need medical supplies and to see a doctor. If this concert means we can help someone in need then that’s great.”
The concert in Galbally will have a huge lineup of local artists and as well as More Power to Your Elbow and The Whistlin’ Donkeys ot will feature Bow Brothers, Ryan Molloy and Fergal Scahill, Copper Rose whilst the event will be hosted by Malachi Cush.
Pat added, “The organising of this concert has been a really great effort between all the bands who are performing. Claire McCrystal has great contacts in the world of traditional music and we know the concert will be a very enjoyable evening.”
