Fans of New Jersey’s blue-collar Bard, the one and only Bruce Springsteen, are in for a treat this month as one of Ireland’s leading tribute acts to the man himself is bound for the Alley Theatre.
‘Springsteen – A Tribute’ are a six-piece band with a love for the man who brought us such classics as ‘The River’, ‘Dancing In The Dark’, and the iconic ‘Born In The USA’. They also have their own ‘Bruce’ in the form of Washington state native Monte Thompson who now resides just outside Garvaghy. Monte describes Springsteen’s music as having been ‘written from the heart’ and he ensures that the same heart exudes from the band’s admittedly ‘aerobic’ performances, adding that his favourite tune from the Boss is ‘The Rising’.
Having previously played the Alley Theatre last May, the gig was clearly such a success that they’re coming back for more.
Since beginning in 2011, originally named ‘Human Touch’ after one of Bruce’s best-loved works, the band have travelled all over and opened for a smattering of talent from all over including Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Sinead O’Connor, The Waterboys, Foy Vance, Mary Black, Henry McCullough, Van Morrison and US rockers Smash Mouth.
The band’s drummer, Stephen Quinn explained, “We all love Bruce and his music, having played extensively since 2011 to countless packed houses to, like us, his many fans who are affectionately called ‘Tramps’. We pride ourselves on our reputation for an authenticity and musicality which matches the passion and high energy shown by Bruce and the E-Street Band.
“We really enjoyed our gig last year in the Alley and are delighted to be coming back to what was a great crowd last May.”
‘Springsteen – A Tribute’ offers a brilliant show and is a must-see spectacle for any fans of ‘The Boss’ so they can re-live the ‘glory days’ of Bruce’s music and career.
Tickets for ‘Springsteen – A Tribute,’ on Friday April 26 are available at the Alley Theatre Box Office priced at £20.
