Andy’s helping people one cuppa at a time!

BY hosting weekly coffee mornings where conversations about mental health and well-being are at the fore, Andy Campbell is hoping he can do his bit to help local people who are struggling – one cuppa at a time!

The 43-year-old Omagh man says the informal events provide people with a place where they can ‘drop in and talk to somebody’ or even just ‘to simply socialise’.

At present, they take place every Friday morning, from 11am to 1.30pm at the Omagh Community Church.

“The coffee mornings get people out of the house,” he explained. “When you’re sitting on your own in the house, sometimes your mind can go into overdrive. Or if you don’t live with anyone, you can start to feel lonely.

“So it is good to give people a place where they can just drop in and talk to somebody.”

Andy, who is part of the Solace support group, has ambitious future plans for his coffee mornings – so make sure you pop in with your friends and family the next Friday you are free to show your support and enjoy some good conversations!

“My first coffee morning saw a number of people come in,” he said.

“While, at the minute, they are more of an informal gathering, my aim would be to get our own premises and have a drop-in every day for people who need to talk – and have people around them willing to lend a comforting, listening ear.”
