Anti-vaxxers target Tyrone GAA over ‘Big Jab Weekend’

Tyrone GAA has come under fire from anti-vaxxers, after the county’s official social media page promoted the ‘Big Jab Weekend’.

The county which has seen its preparations for the All Ireland semi final with Kerry thrown into turmoil by the impact of Covid 19 on its squad, simply repeated and shared the official appeal by the Department of Health,

The promotion on August 21 and 22 will see Northern Ireland’s mass vaccination centres once again offering walk-in first jabs for all adult age groups.

The ‘Big Jab Weekend’ will be the last chance for anyone aged 18 and over to get their first jab at a mass vaccination centre.

A raft of comments were posted in response to the Tyrone GAA post on Facebook.

“Tyrone GAA you should be sticking to football and hurling Obviously you’re getting grants to push this trial poison on the young,” said one person.

“Stop using the influence of the Tyrone set up to push this jab!” read another reponse.

Other comments included: “Complete and utter madness, pushing this poison,” and “Has everyone gone completely mental? If you have any small bit of common sense stay at home.”

Other comments included more extreme claims about the vaccines, which will not be published here.
