A LOCAL village has recorded the lowest rate of positive coronavirus cases for the second consecutive week.
Statistics released by the Department for Health for the period from December 28 until January 3 show that Augher has the enviable record of having no positive cases of Covid-19.
Of the 34 people from the area who went for a test during that seven- day period, none came back positive.
The low rate of infection in the Clogher Valley is also reflected in the BT76 postcode area of Clogher.
There, 83 people were tested and eight of them returned a positive result, leaving a rate of 392.2 cases
per 100,000 of population in the locality.
A total of 20 people tested positive in Aughnacloy out of 130 who were tested, and in Dungannon during the week there were 177 positive cases, leaving a rate of 807.9 per 100,000 of population.
These figures also include Cabragh, Pomeroy and Ballygawley.
The highest rate in the Mid Ulster area is in Cookstown, where there were 227 positive cases during
that period between December 28 and January 3, leaving a rate of 920.1 per 100k of population. A total
of 739 people were tested in the week to Tuesday.
In the BT78 postcode area, which covers Omagh, Fintona, Eskra, Dromore, Trillick and Newtownstewart, there were 195 positive cases from 959 people who were tested.
A further 117 positive Covid-19 cases were reported in the BT79 area, which covers Beragh, Sixmilecross, Plumbridge, Gortin, Carrickmore, Loughmacrory and Creggan.
