THE Western Trust has been urged to provide a vaccination clinic in Strabane.
Órfhlaith Begley, Sinn Féin MP made the request saying, “At present the Western Trust have vaccination clinics in Omagh, Derry and Enniskillen. These clinics are administering vaccines to those working in the health service and this has now been extended to community workers.
“During a meeting with the chief executive of the Western Trust on Friday, I once again requested that a vaccine clinic is established in Strabane. I emphasised the importance of vaccination clinics being within the local community.
“Many constituents have contacted myself this week stating they are unable to get transport to the current vaccination clinics. Other community workers have stated that they had to car share with others to receive the vaccination.
“This is very concerning as healthcare professionals have asked that the public limit their contacts. I will continue to press the Western Trust to deliver a vaccination clinic for Strabane. I believe it is in the interests of public health to have local vaccination clinics in the community.”
