Christian Brothers Grammar School, Omagh

The past year has been extremely difficult for everyone due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. In a normal year we would have organised an Open Day to provide an opportunity for parents, carers and pupils to visit our school, walk around our site, visit the classrooms and meet the teachers in the subject department.

This year you are invited to view our Virtual Open Day via our social media platforms.

The Christian Brothers was founded by Brother Edmund Rice and have a long tradition of education in Omagh since their first arrival in 1861, 160 years ago. We are a Catholic school that follows the principles of the Edmund Rice Charter that cultivates a living faith, fosters Christian spirituality, and educates our pupils in Gospel-based values.

We are committed to working with you, our parents, to ensure that your expectations are met through excellent examination results and the development of your son’s talents, skills and attributes that will prepare him for life beyond school.

Teaching and Learning: This school offers the widest curriculum of all the schools in West Tyrone; 15 subjects in KS3 and 24 subjects at both GCSE and Post 16 level. The Virtual Open Day provides more information about Subject Departments.

By coming to Omagh CBS your son will be embarking on a journey that for most of our students lasts 7 years and leads on to further education at degree level.

We have been a Microsoft Showcase School for 5 years; we have been celebrated as innovators in successful eLearning. We utilise the latest tools available, to complement our years of successful, educational achievement. We provide training to assist both parents and students in such progressive skills which equip our students for the demands of the 21st century.

Pastoral Care: The welfare of your child is our highest priority. We provide the highest quality Pastoral Care through the dedicated work of our Pastoral Teams of Form Teachers, Heads of Year and Heads of School.

All pupils meet daily with their Form Teacher and our comprehensive care is supplemented by our Wellbeing Centre which includes a Mentoring Room and other facilities to support children experiencing difficulties including our school nurse to provide any medical support your son may require.

Extracurricular Activities: Our students also enjoy a wide variety of extracurricular activities which include sport, music, drama and a series of clubs to cater for the interest of all students. Our online platforms provide examples of the activities available.

To the Primary 7 pupils, I wish you all the very best in the weeks and months ahead and hope that, when it is safe to do so, we are soon all back to school.

  • Christian Brothers Grammar School ‘Virtual Open Day’ will be live from Friday February 5th.
