A WELL-KNOWN Strabane man is hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Noah Donohoe Foundation via a trim of his ‘luscious’ white beard and curly hair.
Aiden ‘Cookie’ Dunne will undergo a big shave on April 27, choosing that date as it was his late wife Veronika’s birthday; she passed away in August 2019.
This week, Cookie’s daughter, Grainne explained that her father was hoping to top £500 with his charity mission.
“He hopes to raise £500 to donate towards the Noah Donohoe Foundation in order to help keep Noah’s memory alive,” she said.
“He is a well-known figure in Strabane having been involved in athletics, soccer and Gaelic from an early age. He played for many teams and in many different positions.
“More recently Cookie’s fancy footwork has taken him to a different stage. He has turned his talents to singing and is a member of the group, ‘Music to Your Ears’ based in and performing in the Alley Theatre. Cookie performed a skit shown on Facebook recently to the tune – ‘Obla Do Obla Da’ – even though he is probably widely known for his unique rendition of ‘Delilah.’ Cookie has impersonated many famous people with his luscious white beard and curly hair, Santa Claus and George Sigerson to name a few. He will be very sad to see it go but is delighted to be able to support the Donohoe family in keeping Noah’s memory alive.”
Cookie had already surpassed the £500 mark and has already raised over £2,300 and counting…
