A security alert in the Beechway area of Cookstown has ended with nothing untoward found.
Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) were on the scene to investigate an object which was reported to police on Sunday.
A number of homes were evacuated as a result of the incident, which is believed to be a remnant from the First World War.
“The security alert in the Beechway area of Cookstown has ended,” said the PSNI.
“A suspicious object, discovered in the area this afternoon (Sunday 11 April), was examined by Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO). It has since been declared as nothing untoward, and has been removed for further examination.”
Inspector Michael Patton said: “It is believed the object may be a remnant from the First World War.
“Residents have now returned to their homes, and I am keen to thank those who were inconvenienced for their patience and understanding.”
