PUPILS at an Omagh school are involved in a project that gives residents of local care homes something to smile about.
All those taking part in the Kindness Project are encouraged to write a cheerful letter, draw a picture or find an uplifting card or postcard – and post it into the Kindness Postbox!
Nuala O’Toole then collects the mail and distributes it to residents of local care homes.
Every card, letter, poem, picture, drawing goes a long way to brighten someone’s
day.
The children of Omagh Integrated Primary School and OIPS Friends Club were very happy and excited to draw pictures and write letters to the residents of Meadowbank Residential Home in Omagh.
Principal Gavin Gallagher said, “Some children have voiced hope of maybe the residents writing back and of them continuing to send letters to the residents and possibly residents of other residential homes.
“It got our children thinking of kind ways to reach out to others in our community.”
