THE family of a late Tyrone woman who was well-known and respected in local canine circles have presented a cheque for £1,000 to Care for Cancer.
Sylvia Johnston (née Ballantine), who lived on Golan Road, several miles outside Omagh, ran Glencairn Kennels and Grooming Services along with her husband, Bryan.
Mrs Johnston, who was brought up in Beattie Villas, Edenderry, sadly passed away in June this year.
Her family would like to thank all those who made donations, in lieu of flowers, in her memory.
After leaving school, Sylvia worked for many years as a cook in both the Tyrone and Fermanagh and County Hospitals in Omagh, before establishing Aunt Jane’s Coffee Shop in Newtownstewart.
In 2005, Sylvia chose a new career path when, together with her husband, she established Glencairn Kennels and Grooming Services.
With Sylvia’s love of dogs she became well-known and respected in canine circles and continued with her work until she was forced to stop due to ill-health in 2019. Her interest in the kennels and its residents sustained her until her death.
