Fintona CCE members go walking to support charities

MEMBERS and supporters of Fintona CCÉ recently donned their trainers and walked 100,000 steps – and perhaps even more! – to help raise money for two local charities who support vulnerable people in our society.

Despite the inclement weather and hottest of summery days over lockdown, the intrepid trekkers took on the tough challenge of walking 10,000 steps a day for 10 days in aid of ‘Support 2gether’ and ‘Omagh Women’s Aid’.

A fantastic total of £740 was raised during the exercising escapade, and this amount was divided evenly between the two charities.

A Fintona CCÉ spokesperson has thanked everyone who contributed in any way towards the challenge.

“The response received was overwhelming,” they said. “We had so many branch and non-branch members popping on their trainers, and getting out and about to clock up the miles and raise funds for the two chosen charities.

“Both of these charities carry out life changing work to help so many vulnerable people in our community, and this was a small way we could support them and their work, especially through this extremely challenging time.”
