A new Covid 19 testing centre opened on Friday at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in Cookstown in response to the continuing surge in the rate of infection.
Over the last two weeks, Cookstown and Dungannon has seen a huge spike in positive cases, which has forced the closure of businesses and has affected many schools and sports clubs in the area.
Latest figures revealed the wider Mid Ulster area – which also includes parts of south Derry – had another 86 positive cases in the previous 24-hour period, more than four times the number of cases recorded in the neighbouring Fermanagh and Omagh council area.
