Let’s get active with the Herald

The Ulster Herald is excited to be teaming up with McBride’s Spar and local fitness expert Damien Crowne to launch ‘Get Active with the Herald!’, a wellness initiative for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Every Thursday morning for the next four weeks Damien Crowne and members of his team from Personal Health & Fitness, Omagh will run a live, free and fun 30-minute session via the Ulster Herald & Tyrone Herald Facebook page.

Starting at 11am each Thursday morning, Damien will lead us through exercises, stretches and mindfulness pointers to help us keep our bodies and minds healthy. The session is aimed at all levels of fitness and you won’t require any specialist gym equipment. As long as you have some space, an internet connection and a smart device then you can join in.

Nigel McDonagh, editor of Ulster Herald said, “We’re are delighted to be partnering with local businesses to bring these sessions to our community. While there are plenty of online classes available, having a trusted local expert like Damien will make a real difference and hopefully help more people get active. “We all know how important physical health is to our mental health, so
even if we only take the first small steps, it could have a major impact on our lives during these challenging times.”

Each week, Damien will deliver a session that is suitable for all the family with the focus on getting up and being active. The current situation we find ourselves living in can make it difficult
to find time for exercise, between home schooling, work and dealing with the effects of living amid a pandemic. Taking time to look after your body and mind is crucial.

Damien Crowne, of Personal Health & Fitness, said, “I’m encouraging everyone that can, to get up, get moving and keep active. I find that engaging parents as well as kids is the key to making exercise fun for the family and delivers the best results. Keeping the mind and body healthy lifts the mood and increases concentration, which is the perfect combination for homeschooling. “I often say that now exercise is needed for sanity not vanity! I am looking forward to leading the Ulster Herald online community in a great workout every Thursday for the next four
weeks!”

It has been possible to bring this initiative to life thanks to the sponsorship of the McBride Retail Group. Owner and entrepreneur, Peter McBride, said, “We are delighted to sponsor the ‘Get Active with the Herald!’ initiative. As a retail group we place great importance on sourcing and supplying fresh healthy food to our local community, which goes handin-hand with an active lifestyle. We look forward to joining in with the Herald readers on a Thursday morning for the live sessions with Damien.”

Taking part is the key, so no matter what your fitness levels or ability, there is something for everyone in the live sessions. Keep half an hour free from 11am on your Thursday mornings for the next four weeks and benefit from a free and live workout with the Ulster Herald and Damien Crowne, in partnership with McBride’s Spar.
