The 64-year-old man, arrested yesterday (Monday 9) in connection with the murder of a Catholic RUC officer from Omagh over 28 years ago, has been released following questioning.
Constable Michael Ferguson was shot twice, at close range, in the back of the head by an IRA gunman while on duty in Derry’s Shipquay Street on January 23, 1993.
He was only 21-years-old when he was killed.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Legacy Investigation Branch arrested the man in Derry.
He was held under the Terrorism Act and taken to Musgrave Police Station for questioning.
