Dungannon man sustains head injury after armed pair break in

A DUNGANNON man has sustained a head wound after two men armed with a hurling stick, knife and hatchet broke into his property and assaulted him in the early hours of this morning.

The PSNI say they received a report about the terrifying attack in the Springdale area of Dungannon shortly after 3.20am.

The male householder also sustained cuts to his hands, knees and feet, and was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

“His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time,” PSNI Detective Sergeant Crawford said.

It is understood the armed pair smashed windows and assaulted the male householder after gaining entry to the property.

The detective said that, following the incident, a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

“They remain in police custody at this time,” the officer added.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with any information about the incident, or who can help with their enquiries, to contact 101, quoting reference number 321 of 18/03/22.
