A NEWTOWNSTEWART woman who had a small quantity of cannabis in her house, has been handed a conditional discharge.
Stephanie Kilpatrick (32) of Mourne Park appeared at Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday facing two charges, the possession of cannabis, which she admitted to and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. The second charge was said to have taken place on February 27. However she denied committing this offence and the case was adjourned for two weeks to fix a date for the contest.
Regarding the drug possession, police found the cannabis during a search of Kilpatrick’s home on March 12. It was discovered in an ashtray in the kitchen. The defendant made a full admission to the offence and as well as the conditional discharge, a destruction order was made for the drugs.
Kilpatrick had a previous record for possession of class C drugs.
