A BERAGH-based bouncy castle business has been fined for health and safety failings after a mother and daughter were injured in a six foot fall.
Cooley Castles Ltd, based on Cooley Road, pleaded guilty to two offences at the town’s Magistrates Court this week after Fermanagh and Omagh District Council took action against the firm.
The prosecution followed a council investigation into an accident which took place in the car park of the premises in January 2018.
Officers found that a mother and daughter had been walking across the car park towards the entrance of the play shed building when they fell 6ft into a vehicle inspection pit.
The woman suffered a fracture of the arm and the child suffered minor injuries.
The investigation found that protective measures in place to prevent people from falling into the inspection pit were inadequate and that the responsible person failed to notify the enforcing authority about the accident.
Commenting on the case a spokesperson for the council said, “Fermanagh and Omagh District Council gives a high priority to the investigation of Offences under Health & Safety Legislation.
“Accidents are investigated thoroughly and where necessary formal action is taken, such as prosecution for offences as in this case.”
The company was fined a total of £1,200 for the offences.
