A LITHUANIAN man has been remanded in custody on charges of cultivating and supplying cannabis, in relation to an incident in Omagh at the weekend.
Alfred Brancevis (32) of Glenside, Omagh appeared at Enniskillen Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from Omagh Police Station, after being being arrested on Friday.
Brancevis was charged with disorderly behaviour on the Old Mountfield Road in Omagh, possessing a Class B controlled drug, namely cannabis, cultivating cannabis, possessing cannabis with intent to supply, and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. All charges related to January 7.
When the charges were put to Brancevis, who was aided by a Lithuanian interpreter, in court on Monday he replied that he understood. A police officer gave evidence connecting him to the charges.
Defence barrister James Hughes said no bail application was being lodged on the defendant’s behalf.
District Judge Steven Keown adjourned the case to Omagh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 1, where Brancevis will appear via video link from prison.
