Omagh nursing home searching for American Pen Pal

AN Omagh nursing home has launched a #FindBrittney campaign in an attempt to locate and thank a mystery pen pal from Texas.
Springlawn House launched a pen pal during lockdown as visitors were not premitted in the home.
The pen pal appeal was a great success and Brittney, a mystery pen pal from San Antonio, Texas sent a thoughtful package containing nine personalised letters – one for each resident who featured in the pen pal campaign.
Each letter was enclosed in a coloured hand-crafted envelope with beautiful hearts, feathers and butterfly decorations.
The package was a great boost to the residents and the staff are hopeful of finding the mystery sender to thank them for their kind gesture.
The campaign has already reached over 37,700 people with Facebook posts to #FindBrittney reaching over 13,000 people, and Twitter posts has reached over 24,700 but Brittney has still not been found.
Springlawn House manager, Clara Robinson, is appealing to everyone to use social media and any Texas contacts they have to reach out to Brittney.
“We recently held an initiative to find pen pals for residents because visits are limited during Covid-19,” says Clara. “We were overwhelmed with heart-warming support from people hoping to virtually befriend our residents.”
“One set of letters, however, came as a huge surprise to us all. The package was from Texas, in the USA.
“Brittney’s letters made such a positive impact on residents that the team would love to return the kindness,” said Clara.
However, there was no surname or address with her letters and all that is known of Brittney is that she is a stay-at-home mother from San Antonio, Texas.
Clara continued, “Brittney also described how she took careful steps for infection control by closing each letter with washi tape instead of sealing the envelopes by mouth.
Springlawn House has worked hard to successfully protect all our residents from Covid-19 throughout the pandemic, so we really appreciated this extra effort.”
“Brittney didn’t give a return address, but we would love to find her to send a Thank You parcel from us all. She said she didn’t expect a response back, she just wanted to send smiles. This lady had never made contact with the home before, so it was a real surprise.”
Springlawn House would like to thank everyone who has helped with the #FindBrittney campaign so far, and Clara added that they would love Brittney to get in touch with them at springlawn@hotmail.com .
