Pedestrian killed in collision near Cookstown

A PEDESTRIAN is understood to have been killed in a collision with a vehicle near Cookstown on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services including the Air Ambulance were called to the scene of the collision shortly after 3.30pm.

Police sealed off the Tullywiggan Road – which leads to the Mid Ulster Sports Arena – in the immediate aftermath of the collision.

A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they “received a 999 call at 15:39 on Wednesday, April 6 following reports of a road traffic collision on Tullywiggan Road involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

“NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and two emergency crew to the scene. NIAS also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance, with HEMS crew on board, to the incident. No patients were taken from the scene.”
