Rapid response to blaze at Omagh’s Iceland store

SIX fire appliances were called to the scene of a blaze at Omagh’s Iceland store in the Kevlin Avenue area of the town, late on Tuesday night.

Flashing blue lights lit up the car park opposite the store as firefighters disembarked from their vehicles to battle the blaze which was reported at 11.06 pm. They finally settled the situation a few hours later at 1.08 am.

Of the six fire appliances which attended the incident, two came from Omagh, one from Fintona, one from Newtownstewart, one from Dromore, and one from Portadown

The Fire Service said, “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets to extinguish the fire. The incident was dealt with by 1.08am and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.”

Similarly, a PSNI spokesperson said, “We received report of a fire at around 11.20 pm on Tuesday night but it is not being treated as suspicious at this time.”
