POLICE arrested a man in his 70s who was driving a tractor the wrong way along the M1 close to Tamnamore in the early hours of last Friday morning.
The tractor was observed by police officers on mobile patrol at 3.25am.
A police spokesperson on the PSNI Mid Ulster Facebook site revealed the shocking details and warned of the potential danger posed.
They said, “This could have had tragic consequences and just doesn’t bear thinking about.”
The pensioner was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the alcohol limit, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving. He was released on bail to return at a later date.
