Ardstraw Res reinstated after successful Reihill Cup protest

ARDSTRAW Reseves have been reinstated to the Reihill Cup after a successful protest against holders Strathroy Harps Reserves.

The Harps second string defeated their Ardstraw counterparts 5-2 in the quarter-finals however the Vaughan’s Holm club subsequently lodged a protest claiming that their opponents had broken Rule 3 of the competition.

It states, “No team may play more than three recognised Division 1, 2 or 3 players in any one match. A Division 1, 2 or 3 player is one who has played more than a cumulative total of six matches in Division 1, 2 or 3 in the current season.”

Ardstraw proved that Harps Reserves played four such players against them in the last eight clash, and, as a consequence, their protest was upheld by the organising body.

That means the last four line-up is now Mountfield Reserves versus Omagh Hospitals Reserves at Ferney Park on Wednesday, April 16 with Ardstraw Reserves facing Killen Rangers Reserves back at the same venue 24 hours later. Both ties kick-off at 7.30pm.

The final has been scheduled for Friday, May 2 at Ballinamallard.
