Clonoe returned to winning ways

Clonoe returned to winning ways when they recorded a comfortable win over Donaghmore at O’Rahillys Park.

 

The sides shared the opening ten points thanks to efforts from Ryan Morrow, Connor McAliskey, Cormac McCann and Brannon Molloy before Morrow and McAliskey both found the net. Dermot McAleer replied with a Donaghmore goal but a further major from Ciaran Magee left Clonoe well on top at the break.

 

Molloy and McCann had second half points for the St.Patricks but Clonoe were always in control with Ryan McCabe scoring goal number four and Paul Coney, Declan McClure and Daryl Magee tagging on points. 

 

Derrylaughan played host to Dromore at the Loughshore and with both sides fielding under strength it was the St.Dympnas who cantered to victory with plenty to spare. Ruairi Sludden top scored for the winners with his haul including two goals and there was also a brace for Aaron McNulty with Andrew McGrath also finding the net. Joe Donnelly got the Derrylaughan goal with Stephen McGrath, Owen Cushnahan and Cathal Canavan among the points for the Kevin Barrys. 

 

Loughmacrory picked up their first win of the campaign when two late goals saw them take the spoils at home to fellow promoted side Pomeroy. The Plunketts controlled things early on as they established a lead through points from Kieran McGeary and Olly McCreesh but efforts from Ciaran Ward and Cathal Donaghy helped the home side greet the short whistle on level terms.

 

Duffin and Eoin McCourt then edged Pomeroy in front and when Gavin Goodfellow got a goal it looked as though Loughmacrory were set for victory. The St.Theresas though refused to throw in the towel and a late Shane Dobbs goal was quickly followed by another major from Diarmuid Gallagher as they produced a sensational comeback. 

 

A strong second half display saw Carrickmore come from behind at the interval to record a convincing win away to Moy. An early Ryan Coleman goal helped Moy establish that advantage with Peter Mallon and Martin Penrose supplying points for their teams.

 

Carrickmore though seized control in the third quarter and they never looked back with Rory Donnelly, Penrose and Ciaran Daly kicking points and Oran McKee getting a goal. Sean Cavanagh and Mallon responded for Moy but a late goal from Cormac Munroe was the icing on the cake for the visitors. 

 

Dungannon continue to set the pace at the summit of group one after a narrow win over an Ardboe side who have yet to break their points duck. The all important goal of the game was a fortunate one with Paul Donaghy’s speculative shot rebounding of Ardboe keeper Ronan Cassidy and into the net.

 

Donaghy had a number of points for the Clarkes with Lorcan Mallon, Padraig McNulty and Patrick Molloy also on target. Michael Lynn, Kyle Coney and former Tyrone star Brian McGuigan all scored points for the Rossas. 

 

Trillick prepared for their Championship opener with newboys Galbally with a resounding 3-11 to 0-08 victory over Omagh on Friday night as Mattie Donnelly led the charge with a goal and four points,m while Lee Brennan weighed in with three minors of his own.

 

Errigal Ciaran were also in impressive form,m dispatching Killyclogher 3-16 to 0-09 as Ciaran McGinley (2-1), Odhran Robinson (1-2) and Ryan Lynch (0-8, five frees) led them home with plenty to spare.

 

And finally, Coalisland edged passed Galbally by a single point, 0-11 to 0-10, with the home side forced to weather a second half comeback from their visitors which almost saw them leave Campbell Park with a share of the spoils.
