CARRICKMORE captain Gemma Begley was on target with two goals and five points as her side headed straight back to Senior football a year after being relegated for the first time.
The St Malachy’s struggled at times to cope with the quality of Begley, Clodagh Munroe and Megan McCann in attack as the Carmen girls accounted for last year’s Junior champions Edendork in a one-sided Intermediate Final at Greencastle.
The writing was on the wall at half-time with Carrickmore leading 3-8 to 0-3 by the break. Spearheaded by a Begley brace of goals, Carrickmore were always in control.
Their defence was also solid with Alanagh Trainor, Caira Munroe and Eimear McGarrity calling the shots.
Edendork struggled to find a way through, with Carmen goalkeeper Shannon Hurson in the main untroubled as Carrickmore eased ahead by twelve points at the first water break.
Clodagh Munroe and Eve Loughran were among early points scorers although Meabh Maxwell was on hand with an Edendork point in the opening five minutes as both sides traded chances.
Begley tagged on her first goal from distance when St Malachy’s goalkeeper Kelly Taggart misjudged a long range free and within two minutes Begley again found the net, benefiting from a poor clearance to ease her side well ahead.
A third goal by Munroe, teed up by her captain on sixteen minutes left the task mounting for the East Tyrone side.
