Hurlers bid to turn the tables on Donegal

A TANTALISING prize of a place in the Nickey Rackard Cup final at Croke Park beckons the Tyrone hurlers who will be aiming to maintain the momentum of their last outing when they meet Donegal in the semi-final this weekend.

It’s yet another highly significant clash between these old rivals. Last year, at the same semi-final stage, Donegal emerged victorious with an emphatic win, but there’s a fresh determination within the Red Hands to turn the tables.

Home advantage at Carrickmore this afternoon (2pm) may or may not provide them with an added edge. What is certain, though, is the fact that they’ll need a display every bit as impressive and even more so than the one they produce to comeback against the odds to defeat Armagh a few weeks ago.

Seven years have now elapsed since the Red Hands last won the Nickey Rackard Cup. Nevertheless, team manager, Michael McShane, and the players will be determined in the belief that they can bridge that gap on this occasion.
