New signing Jordan McClure scored the only goal of the game as Dergview returned to winning ways in the Playr-fit Premier Intermediate League with a 1-0 victory over Banbridge Town at a blustery Darragh Park last evening.
McClure prodded home from close range five minutes before the half-time interval after visiting keeper Lewis Hunter failed to hold a rasping shot from Paul Smith.
It was McClure’s first goal since joining the Castlederg club in the January transfer window, and, in truth, was the highlight of otherwise forgettable contest.
The hosts always carried the greater threat with Smith and McClure going closest in the first half before the latter opened the scoring.
With a strengthening breeze at their back on the turnaround, Town threatened with Eoin Flynn glancing a header inches wide before Declan Carville had a headed effort tipped over by home stopper Dylan Doherty.
As the game became stretched the hosts had late opportunities to grab a second but Hunter produced one-on-one saves to thwart substitutes Philip Wallace and Corin McConnell.
