REIGNING Senior Champions Trillick will face an unusual Monday night appearance in the first defence of their O’Neill title following the announcement of a blitzkreig of Club Championship fixtures this week.
The St Macartans will tackle Intermediate kingpins Galbally on Monday August 17th, just one of seventeen Tyrone SFC, IFC and JFC ties to be crammed in over a six day period.
With the County Board having to shoehorn the whole club season into a ‘13 week window’ in 2020 because of the pandemic, the much anticipated knockout competitions across all three grades are set to be run off in double quick time.
By the time the Championship comes around, all teams will have had the opportunity to shake of any cobwebs, with four rounds of All-County League games pencilled in during the interim period, starting on Sunday week, July 19th.
The Senior Championship is guaranteed to get off to an explosive start with fierce rivals Coalisland and Clonoe to lock horns on the opening night (Thurs Aug 13th) at Edendork, while also that evening Drumquin and Fintona meet at Drumragh in the Preliminary Round of the Junior Championship.
The first round proper of that competition will be scheduled at a later date.
On Sunday 16th August there is a monster programme of matches lined up, comprised of three double bills. Highlights include the much anticipated meeting of Omagh and Dromore in Loughmacrory during the afternoon, while later that day last year’s beaten SFC finalists Errigal Ciaran begin their campaign against Pomeroy.
The packed schedule will extend on into the Tuesday evening of the following week in Newtownstewart when Owen Roes and Gortin meet in the last of the Intermediate Championship First Round contests.
