Tyrone focused on task in hand

THE ‘quirky’ backdrop to Tyrone’s long trek south to Killarney this weekend won’t cause them to lose focus on the task at hand, joint manager Feargal Logan insists.

If the Red Hands account for the Kerry in the Division One semi-final at Fitzgerald Stadium then they still won’t know for another couple of hours whether they will even be featuring in a National League Final.

Somewhat bizarrely the GAA afforded every team a bye last weekend meaning with the Championship pending, there is no wiggle room in the calendar for a League Final should Kerry or Donegal triumph in their respective semis.

Another decision which caused the odd eyebrow or two to be raised was forcing Tyrone to make the arduous 550 mile round trip to deepest Munster for their semi-final in enemy territory, while at the same time later that Saturday evening, the other last four tie between Dublin and Donegal is being played at a neutral ground.

Yet despite the choice of venue and curious narrative (facing a semi-final opponent who can’t now win the competition), Feargal Logan is fairly philosophical about the situation.

“It seems quirky the way everything has worked out in terms of venue and tosses of coins, with neutral venues and away venues. But again, I think those regulations were in place.

“And I think, even beyond football, everyone has had to learn over this last year and a bit to be resourceful, resilient and adaptable.

“And we have just got to adapt to it and we have a road trip ahead of us next weekend and let’s hope it’s a successful one.”
