Urney advance at expense of Fintona

Urney…1-09

Fintona…0-10

A goal by Danny Lynch proved key as Urney advanced to the quarter-finals of the Tyrone Junior Club Championship with a narrow victory over Fintona at O’Neill’s Healy Park last evening.

Lynch struck early in the second half and that afforded the north Tyrone outfit enough of a cushion to ultimately triumph.

For the most part defences ruled supreme as three first half points by Jamie McAleer helped Urney establish a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead.

Points by Cathal Starrs and Conor McGillion had the sides level pegging nine minutes after the restart before Colm Campbell ushered in Lynch for what turned out to be the decisive score.

Fintona hit back with points from Starrs and Mark McGlinn but a point by PJ McMenamin and a late Ryan Henry free proved enough to secure the win for the St Columba’s.

Tonight (Friday) Brackaville face Glenelly at Fintona while Drumragh lock horns with Derrytresk at Garvaghey.
