KEITH Farmer has decided to ‘hang up’ his boots and call time on his short circuit career after a frustrating and painful first outing in the Bennett’s British Superbike Championship for PR Racing at Silverstone.
The Clogher native, who started the season in the Superstock 1000 class with Platform Hire Racing before moving to the ill-fated Morello team, suffered a series of bike issues and two heavy crashes on Saturday and Sunday after agreeing to race for the team a couple of weeks earlier than planned.
However, after the disappointment of how the weekend – and the season as a whole – unfolded and with the pain of the two offs, the 34-year-old has decided he’s had enough.
With four British titles to his name – two National Superstock 1000, one National Superstock 600 and one British Supersport crown – Farmer is happy with what he has achieved over the past 10 years in the British Superbike Championship paddock.
Meanwhile, also at Silverstone, Omagh’s Jamie Lyons sealed a fourth podium finish of the season in the British Talent Cup and Killyman’s Cameron Dawson extended his led in the British Junior Supersport Championship with a win and a second.
