Moortown 3-18 Fintona 1-9
MOORTOWN advanced to the last four of the Ladies Senior Championship with a comprehensive performance against Fintona at Stewartstown.
The Pearses- who are now relegated- struggled against the intensity of the Moortown attack and while the winners did tag on eighteen points they also missed several chances over the hour.
Attacking from the start, the St Malachy’s girls carried the game to Fintona with Sarah Devlin leading the attack and excellent contributions from Niamh Quinn and midfielders Chrissie Toner and Emma Wilson over what was a one sided contest.
Only at times did Fintona threaten and they found themselves trailing throughout, an Aislinn Connolly first half penalty keeping them in the contest.
Alicia McGoldrick battled hard at the back for the Pearses but all too often they were exposed and Moortown led 2-7 to 1-3 by the break.
Caolan Quinn and Niamh Quinn carried a threat and were among the scores with Devlin while Emma Loane and Grainne Cassidy tagged on Fintona scores.
Through the second half Moortown cut loose and kept the scoreboard moving with Catlin Crozier, Rachael Tallon and Sinead Conlan with excellent points. Devlin continued to dominate and they peppered the Pearses goal with Catlin Donnelly and the woodwork tested.
Aine Barrett returned to Fintona colours and along with McGoldrick tagged on key points but while they battled hard the quality of the Loughshore side was evident and they were always in control of the tie.
Sinead McVey was rarely threatened in the Moortown goal despite the best efforts of Loane and McGillion while once again Emily Conlan impressed in the full back line. Quinn added a third goal through the half as they progressed to the last four concentrating on their points tally on the scoreboard.
